A Brief Introduction

Hey, I’m Jack! A fun fact about me is that I grew up living overseas. Before moving back to the U.S. in 2019, I was living in Bogotá, Colombia, South America. I had the incredible opportunity to meet new people, experience different cultures, and try lots of tasty food!

While living in Colombia, I attended a British school from 5th to 8th grade. One of my favorite classes was ICT (Information and Communication Technology). In 7th grade, my ICT teacher, Mr. Darlow, assigned us a project to build a static webpage using html and css to explore a conspiracy theory of our choice. Since then I’ve been hooked on tech — building my own PC, hosting a Minecraft server in middle school, and now studying Data Science in college.

My Experience

Most recently, I wrapped up my internship with Aireon LLC as a Data Science intern on the Modeling and Analysis team. Throughout my internship, I worked on predictive flight modeling, engineered training sets for machine learning models, and worked on test scripts for company systems. This internship taught me a lot about the aviation industry, working with complex, real-world datasets, and operating effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Prior to my summer internship, I collaborated on research with the Wildlife Conservation Society and the Institute for Integrative Conservation. The research focused on leveraging remote sensing technologies to track harmful algal blooms in the Chukchi Sea. The team and I recently finished a blog post for the WCS Arctic Beringia website.
